AGRO GRACE, collaborating with US based chemical distribution company, Univar, unveiled a cutting-edge termiticide I MaxxPro at an over-subscribed Professional Pest Control Workshop held at the Hilton Kingston Hotel and Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Montego Bay.

An overwhelming success in terms of execution, attendance and participation, AGRO GRACE organized and sponsored the workshop to discuss the crucial issues of termite management and to launch its cutting edge I MaxxPro termiticide in Jamaica.

It provides an effective barrier or protective zone around the structure for not only excellent termite control but also provides superior control of a variety of ant species.

Minster of Health, Hon. Horace Dalley, in opening the two-day workshop, noted that in 2004 the Pesticide Amended Regulations made provision for special certification in termite and public health pest control.To date there are 109 trained and certified Pesticide Control Operators (PCOs) across the island.

"This certification makes provision for specialized termite and vector control. Some builders and contractors might find this certification useful," he declared.

Mr. Dalley told participants that the workshop, hosted by AGRO GRACE, Univar and the Pesticides Control Authority (PCA) was in keeping with his Ministry's policy of fostering public/private partnerships.

"In fact, through this (partnership) mechanism, the Ministry has been pursuing joined-up activities with partners in the sector to strengthen and improve our public health vector control activities”.

He noted that some initiatives being pursued by way of public/private partnerships include joint messages in public awareness. Turning to the advantages of IMaxxPro, Mr. Dalley observed that it will reduce the possibility of ground water pollution, adding that it is "...something that we consider strongly when considering the registration of pesticides in Jamaica."

Minister Dalley pointed to the increase demand in Jamaica for termiticide and commended AGRO GRACE and Univar for their great job in making a wider range of products available to the PCO's.

Feature presenter Roy Soderquist, Univar International Sales Manager, gave an address on Termite Management, before giving a broad based interactive presentation on IMaxx Pro.

AGRO GRACE, the largest distributor of pesticides in Jamaica, provides specified Pest Control products only to certified PCO's. Mr. Peter Knight, Director, Environmental Health Unit, Ministry of Health gave the keynote address at the Montego Bay workshop.
